Financial
Considerations
While we understand that everyone has a budget to consider, our
motivating force for including these financial considerations on our web site
is the commitment that we have to our high standards of care and our
commitment to our relationship with patients.
We are fortunate to be free from the potential conflict of interest that a
dental professional creates when signing a contract with an insurance company.
At Family & Cosmetic Dentistry of Lansdale, we believe patients prefer
their dental professionals be unhampered by a legal relationship which
supersedes the doctor-patient relationship.
If knowledge is power, then the full spectrum of treatment options should be
presented to patients, empowering them to an informed decision for their
treatment
With over 23,000 different insurance plans covering over 110 million
Americans today, it is important that you read your policy and booklet carefully
to maximize your individual benefits. Your policy is a contract between you and
your insurance company to improve your dental health.
FACT #1. Private dental insurance is
NOT meant to be a PAY-ALL, it is only meant to assist with the cost of your
treatment.
FACT #2.
Many plans tell their insured that they will be covered "up to 80% or up to
100%" In actuality, the amount your plan pays is determined by how much the
employer paid for the coverage. We have found most plans pay about 40%-50% of an
average fee.
FACT #3.
It has been the experience of many dentists that some insurance companies tell
those people they insure that "fees are above the usual and customary
fees" rather than saying to them "insurance benefits are low".
Remember: Insured people get reimbursed only what their employer pays, minus the
profits to the insurance company.
FACT #4. Many routine, necessary, and
non-cosmetic dental services are NOT covered by insurance carriers. It is
interesting that when dental insurance was conceived in the 1960's, the maximum
yearly amount paid by the plan was $1000. Currently (forty-plus years later) the
maximum amount paid by an insurance plan per year is STILL about $1000!!
Even with dental insurance, Patients are still responsible for the entire fee
for their dental care. An insurance policy may not cover all dental services and
may only pay a portion of the total cost for dental treatment. Chillemi Dental
will assist in estimating insurance payment for patients. Financial arrangements
are available to assist with dental care fitting patients' budgets.
Dental insurance can contribute to your pursuit of dental health and Chillemi
Dental Care is happy to assist in maximizing dental insurance reimbursement.
